Books About Journaling and Other Resources

Just in case, you feel the need to find out more information about journaling, just Google the word "journal or diary" and you will find a variety of good resources. I have a list of recommended books on my coaching web site that will also help you. Please feel free to check the link out at: www.writerseye.com/sitemap.shtml (Click on the link Recommended Book List)

One of my favorite books is called Journal To The Self, written by Kathleen Adams. It contains several basic journal techniques that you can put to use immediately and continue to use throughout your journaling sessions. I found it very practical, accessible and easy to understand. I still rely on it as a reference for my personal journaling.

I will leave you with one exercise today. This is called free writing or stream of consciousness writing. It is a great way to prepare yourself to work on later writing projects or to start your journaling sessions.Set your timer or watch for ten minutes. Write on your favorite topic for this time, with no editing, no stopping in your writing, until you are finished. Reread your entry and see if any word, phrase or sentence stands out to you. This is an indication that this topic may be an important one for you to journal about at a later date. Happy Journaling!
