Your Journal As History

Several of my college professors assigned extra reading of historical journals during my classes. These journals were sometimes interesting, sometimes tedious, but always enriching my understanding of the area of history that was being discussed in class. I found that reading these journals gave me a more personal view of daily life during the historical periods that we were studying. I also found that it was just plain fun to read something other than a history textbook about the topic at hand. So, for this week, I want you to think about your jounal as being a part of history. That doesn't mean that you have to be involved in a huge historical event like, for example, tomorrow's Inauguration ceremonies. What i want to remind you of, is that you journal is or can be a part of history. It can be a part of your individual history. It can also be an important part of your family history. Not only can you take pictures and put them in a family photo album, but you can also add journals to those photo albums to enhance the record of your family history.
Just think about that ide this week.
