How do you create a nature journal? What do you include it? One recommendation that I've seen is to choose a favorite spot, either a scene outside your window or a spot that you can walk to during the year, and start to draw, however you like to draw, doodle, paint, etc., that scene over a period of several days, weeks or months at approximately the same time every time you create a journal entry.

Please remember that this is not about your artistic skills, this is more about how you record what you see, both in writing and visually. If you are an artist, then this will be a bit easier than for someone who isn't, but this is about recording, in whatever form works for you. If you want, you can even take photos of what you see and use them to describe this favorite scene. What is important is that you record your entries on a regular basis at about the same time every time you record an entry.

You can determine if you want to do this for three, six, nine months or a year. It is up to you. The purpose of this exercise is one, for you to start creating a nature journal, two, to train yourself to observe changes in your favorite scene over time and three to record those changes and reflect on them. Nature is a wonderful teacher, there are many lessons to learn from watching living organizms go through their lifecycles on a regular basis.

I'm sure that you will accomplish more than those three purposes, I really hope that you will, and I'd love to hear about what you do learn, once you've completed this exercise.
