January 15, 2010, Newsletter Issue #154: Scheduling A Journal Retreat Day

Tip of the Week

By now, I'm sure you've heard about Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Both days are dedicated to shopping and selling, either offline or online. Bu what about scheduling a day either for yourself or with some other writers, that would just be for journaling. I've titled this post a scheduling a journal retreat day, but if you were so inclined, you could schedule a journal retreat weekend. Anyway, I believe I've made the point. Throughout the calendar year, there are days dedicated to various activities, some of the more obvious ones are the upcoming holidays. This is when we gather with a community of loved ones and friends to celebrate the meaning of these days and all of our relationships, to one degree or another. Well, scheduling a journal retreat day, can be set up in the exact same way, with a few minor changes.

For example, your invitation list might be a bit smaller. Your location might be less public than the usual holiday work party. The topics of journaling and conversation might be a bit more personal, silly or creative than the average party conversation. Finally, The activities might be a bit less informal, because of the topics that you are choosing to discuss when you journal and share your entries with others in your  journal retreat.  You can create any type of themed retreat that you want. All you need to do is to prepare for it and help others feel at ease with the theme, too. So, the next time someone mentions a holiday, why not consider creating a journal holiday of your own?
